Topic: Green Business Certification Program
Improve your business, save on operating expenses and help the environment at the same time. The City of Tucson’s Office of Conservation and Sustainable Development (OCSD) has received a grant from the Federal Government, allowing OCSD to enroll businesses into the Green Business Certification Program. The Program is entirely free and provides Energy, Water, and Waste audits for your company.
Each audit report includes both suggested behavioral changes and suggested plant and equipment upgrades (with an analysis of their benefit, including payback period). All OCSD asks is that, after the audits are completed and you receive a Preliminary Action Plan based on those audits and other staff recommendations, you implement 5 of the suggested changes – either behavioral or to the facility – from each of the audit areas in order to make your business more environmentally friendly. Your company will also receive credit toward the 5 changes for existing energy efficiency measures. Many of the items that can be completed are behavioral, so the business can attain Green Business Certification at no cost. Any decision to update plant and equipment to more energy efficient models is completely at the business’s discretion.
Once you’ve been certified, you’ll receive an individualized Green Business Certified wall plaque and door decals.
For more information on the Program, please visit the Office of Conservation’s website at http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/ocsd/green-business
